Art Melody is back with afrofuturistic 'Tôk Tôko'

Burkinabé rapper announces new album ZOODO produced by French beatmarker Redrum.

Drawing inspiration from his mother’s griotic incantations, as well as from the 70’s Afro Soul and the New York Rap scene, Art Melody has been delivering his unique flow for a while. He also was part of Electro-Rap project Waga 3000 with another musician he helped to surface : Joey Le Soldat.

Inspired by his own life experiences, he writes raw and uncompromising lyrics. He, who went on a tough journey to Europe in the early 2000’s, dreaming of a better life for his family, and ended up getting incarcerated in Algeria before being taken back to Burkina.

But – as felt in his music – light can be found in every darkness. He then travelled through Ivory Coast, Mali and Mauritania where he met several inspiring artists, some of whom he collaborated or shared the stage with : Gaël Faye, La Rumeur, Angélique KidjoSeun Kuti or Quantic Soul Orchestra.

After five releases on Tentacule Records, Art Melody is back with ZOODOO (“friendship”). Produced by Redrum, with whom he had already worked on two albums, among which the now classic Wogdog Blues released 2013.

First track taken from the album, “Tôk Tôko” shows the raw energy of the two artists when working together.

ZOODOO will be released in November on Tentacule Records.
